Is a Heat Pump Right for Your Home?

Heat pumps are NOT suitable for every home. A thorough and in-depth survey, along with careful design considerations, is essential to ensure that the heat pump would function effectively for your home and contribute to lowering your energy costs at the same time.

At CMC Electrics, we conduct a detailed room-by-room survey of your house. This allows us to accurately calculate your heat loss, select the most appropriate heat pump, and identify the best radiators that cater specifically to your heating requirements.

Currently, 25% of the homes we surveyed were deemed unsuitable for heat pump installation without prior enhancement of their insulation. Conversely, a significant proportion of the properties assessed  did not require modifications to the existing pipe works or radiators

Design

Heat pump design is a lengthy process, but we strive to make the journey as easy as possible for you. We source your most recent Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) report, or we can obtain a new one on your behalf. Our team surveys your home room by room and creates a detailed plan of your property, checking radiator and pipe sizes, and providing you with a comprehensive feasibility report.

If you decide to proceed with the installation, we apply for permission from the National Grid and apply for the BUS grant of £7,500 on your behalf. Once permission and the grant are secured, we schedule the installation works with you.

Heat pumps work best with underfloor heating. If you do not currently have underfloor heating but wish to have it installed, we can design and install an underfloor heating system to complement your new heating solution.

Installation

In addition to conducting all design work in-house, CMC Electrics Ltd. provides comprehensive electrical and plumbing installation services internally. This approach enhances our quality control processes and ensures that installations adhere closely to the approved design specifications.

Through our extensive experience in servicing and fault finding, we have observed that numerous installations suffer from inadequate design; conversely, some installations exhibit good design quality but fail to reflect that in the execution. To address these issues effectively, all of our installations are accompanied by a monitoring application. This application allows clients to assess the performance of their installation in real-time, further reinforcing our commitment to excellence.

Under Floor Heating and Building Works

We can design and install underfloor heating systems for both new builds and retrofit applications over existing floors. We specify the pipe sizes, spacing, and controllers of the underfloor heating to align with your heat pump design, ensuring optimal performance.

Heat pumps require a solid base for mounting and proper drainage for the anti-freeze cycle. We can undertake this building work, as well as construct small outbuildings to accommodate any heat pump-related equipment, such as hot water cylinders, if space is limited in the main house.

Certification and Hand Over

We are proud members of NAPIT, RECC, and MCS, and we are approved installers and service engineers for Vaillant  and other manufacturers. We perform all testing and commissioning to the highest standards, adhering to relevant regulations and manufacturer instructions. At the end of the job, we provide you with a comprehensive document pack and notify all related governing bodies. Most of our work comes with a 13-year warranty, reflecting our commitment to maintaining high standards.

During the handover, we take the time to thoroughly explain your entire system, set up the monitoring apps, and demonstrate all the controllers. For clients who prefer a hands-off approach, we also offer a monitoring and servicing service.
